History Of S&S Metal & Plastics, Inc

S & S was founded by two brothers Garland and Bobby Strickland in 1960 in their two car garage with Garland the oldest of the four siblings and Bobby the youngest. Their family moved to Jacksonville from North Carolina in the 1930’s.

Garland started working when he was 17 for Miller Electric company and then enlisted into the Army during World War II. After his return from the war he returned to Miller and worked there for 21 years. Bobby also went to work at 17 for Jacksonville Shipyards and worked there for almost 20 years.

Garland & Bobby started S & S in their garage working at night while still holding down their day jobs. But they were determined to make their company excel and in 1966 S & S Metal & Plastics was incorporated, moved into our large modern shop in 1975 and today employs 30 people using some of the most up to date equipment in the sheet metal fabrication industry.

The main focus of both Garland & Bobby today is to ensure the company keeps manufacturing custom metal and plastics for generations to come.
